Great local place. No food but they ordered pizza's and set them out for everyone. Michael Collins (Forgotten Astronaut), and Neil Armstrong Belgianesque ales were very and well crafted. They also had a good selection of Micro's from all around theGreat Lakes region including Dark Horse, New Holland, Great Lakes, etc.

The wife and I were glad that we finally found the bar entrance (they really need to invest in a sign that you can see from the road!). Once we found the brewpub, we were lucky that 2 seats at the bar freed up almost immediately. The beertender (Nick)was very personable and helpful. We both had the IPA for the first beer, and found it very drinkable with moderate hoppiness. I ordered the Stout for the second beer...very tasty but could have used a tad more malt. Lunar offers a wide variety of non-Lunar brewed beers as well. The HopJuice was killer!
When we visit the area again we will definitely stop by Lunar.

Very friendly crowd, instantly barbed as I tried to enter a locked glass door, that I couldn't see in but obviously was seen by the whole bar area. IPA...yum, stout was the best I've ever had, and the counts the 3 years living in Great Britian, ah who cares what the Limeys are drinking anyway...ha...psst, the lagers are pretty tasty though. As I was saying, great crowd, including the boxer(4 legged) behind the bar, licking his chops occasionally at the sight of foamy beers.

An anywhere in America corner bar as soon as you walk in it is like being at your hometown bar, I loved it. I tried the Oktoberfest and the IPA and I loved both the Oktoberfest was a great smooth beer and the IPA was a hops lovers dream. When I am in this area I will be back.

This is not your typical brewpub that offers 5 predicatable beers in a sterile, fern bar setting, complete with brass railings. Instead, if you like really great beer in a friendly, casual, neighborhood pub atmosephere, nothing compares to the Lunar.
I fully agree with the poster who was praising the Red Moon Ryesin, a hoppy rye with a creamy head nothing like you are going to get elsewhere. Yum! The Moondance IPA is made for IPA lovers, not the wimpy variety served by the chains. The Steam is very clean crisp version that almost begs to be quaffed.
The staff is attentive and down home friendly, often trading warmhearted barbs with the equally cordial patrons on the other side of the bar, but never at the expense of making sure everybody's pint is filled.
If you like a place where you can feel comfortable bellying up to the bar in your worn jeans, strike up a conversation with the stranger sitting on the bar stool next to you, and order from a great selection of truly world class beers, served with a smile, you'll love the Lunar!

The smallest microbrewery I have ever been to but their beers are really good. They usually have 8-10 of their own brews on tap and a couple of guest taps. They also have one of the biggest bottled beer selections around on display in a pretty cool looking antique refriger case. Great atmosphere.

This place is a small, typical Wisconsin-type, no frills bar that just happens to brew some amazingly good beers. The Stout and Scottish Ales are terrific. I've never had a bad beer here. The food selection is almost non-existent. A frozen Tombstone pizza can be had upon request. That in itself is kind of a beautiful thing. If you want some great beers in a casual, towny-bar atmosphere, don't pass this place up.

Sooo glad we found Lunar on our trip to the Chicago area. True bar surroundings means enduring smoke but the beer was worth it! Average selection, somewhat responsive barkeep but quality was better than expected. Agree about the stout and the scotch being top notch. My husband enjoyed his Pale Ale so much he opted to skip tasting anything else. Locals sharing the bar were friendly too. Would've stayed longer if there was food to be had.

This place was fascinating. A nice clean old bar with a knowledgeable bartender and a friendly bunch of people. Hard to believe that such a selection of fine beer can be made from such a small brewpub. I got the tour and it lasted less than a minute. I told you it was small. All beers sampled were very good. The Scotch Ale served in a 21 oz. thistle glass was outstanding. If you get a chance you have to make it to this place. By the way, from what the bartender told me, Jules has a new partner and will remain brewing here for at least a couple more years.

Sad news. Lunar is for sale. Jules is moving to Texas. Any other pubcrawlers want to go in on it with me?

I felt like I was a regular the second I sat at the bar. The Total Eclipse oatmeal stout is not to be missed, neither is the Scotch Ale. Kristin is sweet and will make sure you get the perfect pour. Absolutely great place to drink- wish I lived closer.
